About me

I have been a musician and artist, man and boy for, well, a long time. I was born in Dunfermline, Fife, in Scotland, but lived most of my life in the south of England. Having returned to Scotland some six years ago to make peace with my celtic side, I thought I'd see if I could earn a living as a pet portrait artist, and to that end I taught myself how to design a website, after which I set up shop ( alright, it wasn't as easy as I'm making it sound but I got the idea in the end). I now have three websites centred on my pet portrait business, and one featuring essays I've written over the past two years.

I live in the north of Scotland, on the edge of the Highlands, (see Do You Ken John Peel?), with my wife Karen, our teenage daughter Abi, and our three dogs, Oscar, Daisy May (pictured here) and Pebbles. I play guitar like a ringing a bell, I'm pretty good at chess, and pretty bad at snooker. I read a lot, mostly history and science fiction, and I love my dogs.
I also love Johann Sebastian Bach, some jazz and rock, and country music.

If I could have my life over, I would probably live in a log cabin in Alaska, and get to know the wolves, except then I would never have known Karen and my daughter Abi. And J.S. Bach. And Martina McBride. Oh well.
